Psychometric properties of the Kessler Subjective Disease Scale (K10) in Ecuadorian adults

Abstract
INTRODUCTION. Psychological tests must be adapted in different situations. This research aims to analyse the psychometric properties of the ten-item Kessler Psychological Distress scale within the Ecuadorian context. OBJECTIVE. Analyse the psychometric properties of the ten-item Kessler Psychological Distress scale in Ecuadorian adults. METHOD. Instrumental research using the Psychological Distress scale (K10), the Ryff Scale of Psychological Well-Being and the Subjective Well-Being Scale on 586 Ecuadorian adults. RESULTS. The internal consistency, the explorative factor analysis, the confirmatory factor analysis and the convergent and divergent validity are adequate. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. The Kessler Psychological Distress scale (K=10) is valid and reliable for implementations. However, it is recommended to avoid using item 8 in Ecuador.
