As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.



    • All submissions must meet the following requirements.



      • The submission has not been previously published or submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).

      • Whenever possible, URLs are provided for references.

      • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which appear in About the Journal.

      • CienciAmérica is authorized to disseminate the published article on its website and on all indexed sites, as well as to present the article in various formats (pdf, audio mp4, html among others) to give it greater visibility.

      • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word or RTF format.

      • The text is single spaced; 11 point font size; italics are used instead of underlining (except for URLs); and all illustrations, figures and tables are placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end.

      • All authors authorize CienciAmérica the right of first publication in the journal, retaining their authorship rights; i.e., to disseminate their work through the Internet (e.g., in institutional telematic archives or on its web page), which may produce interesting exchanges and increase citations of the published work. Authors may adopt other non-exclusive license agreements for distribution of the published version of the work, as long as the initial publication in this journal is indicated and if you remix, transform or create from the material, you must indicate this.



Instructions for Authors


CienciAmérica Journal is a biannual publication of scientific dissemination, reviewed by specialized academic peers from Technological University Indoamerica and other institutions. In this context, the reviewers play an important role in the editorial workflow, to ensure the quality of publications, we have a base of external peers that represent approximately 78%, which is constantly growing. All manuscripts must be sent in Microsoft Word format ( .doc or .docx).


To be considered for publication in CienciAmérica , the manuscripts must be submitted to the following norms and follow the following instructions:

From 2017, CienciAmérica will publish every six months, a number in january and another in july. We invite the community of the Universidad Tecnológica Indoamérica, teaching researchers from other universities in Ecuador and from all countries, to send us their contributions.

Arbitration Process


The arbitration process consists of a first revision of the General Editor, followed by the review of specialized peer reviewers ("Double Blind" system), which can be either from the Technological University Indoamerica or from other institutions. Based on these reviews, the General Editor issues a report detailing if the article has been:



  1. Accepted without changes.

  2. Accepted with minor changes.

  3. Accepted with major changes.

  4. Rejected.


Note: The aspects to be evaluated are presented in the Evaluation Form .


Acceptance or rejection of the shipment


If the evaluations coincide with categories 1 and 2, the comments are forwarded to the author for incorporation (if the comments merit it, once the modifications are made, they are sent to the evaluators to approve the changes) and the article goes through the process editorial. If the evaluators agree on categories 3 and 4, the article is rejected. In case of dispute, where one evaluator qualifies in categories 1 or 2, and the other in 3 or 4, the text is sent to a third evaluator and proceeds by the majority rating.


Time of the Evaluation and Publication Process


CienciAmérica Journal , will communicate with the authors between 2 and   4 months after the date of submission to inform them of the result of the evaluation process.


Requirement of originality


During the evaluation process, the originality of the content of the manuscripts will be taken into account. Manuscripts that have already been published, or that are in the process of publication / evaluation in other journals, or any other printed or electronic media will not be accepted. The use of previously published data will not be accepted, unless new analyzes are carried out in which new techniques, different perspectives or in combination with unpublished data are applied.


CienciAmérica Journal, declines any responsibility on possible conflicts derived from the authorship of the works that are published.


General format


Manuscripts to be considered must be written in Spanish or English. In the first case, they should have a summary in English and in the second, with a summary in Spanish. All manuscripts must be submitted in Arial font, in a single space, and with margins of at least 2.5 cm. The hyphenated words should not be separated at the end of the line and the text should be justified (to facilitate the reading of the reviewers). Italic characters should only be used for words in a foreign language ( eg ., Versus, in situ, software, etc.) including scientific names.


Types of articles published in CienciAmérica



  1. Original Research Article: articles where original results of an unpublished research are presented and analyzed. It must be structured in Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion.

  2. Essays and Reviews: articles that express points of view or results of a theoretical investigation on a particular topic; the sections follow a free format.

  3. Short Notes: articles where original results of an unpublished research are presented and analyzed in a summarized format. The information is presented in a single body of text.


Format of Original Articles



  • Title: In uppercase and lowercase letters, in bold, centered and in Arial font 22, without end point.

  • Title in English: In uppercase and lowercase letters, in italics, centered and in Arial 14, with no period at the end.

  • Title in Portuguese: In capitals and small letters, in italics, centered and in Arial 14, with no period at the end.

  • Name of the author: First and middle name with the first capital letter, first and second surname with the first capital letter. All in bold, centered and Arial font 11.

  • Institutional affiliation: If all the authors belong to the same institution and to the same faculty, it will only be necessary to provide an institutional affiliation. In the case of authors belonging to different institutions or different dependencies within the same institution, the institutional affiliation for each unit will be provided. After the institutional affiliation the institutional address, city, country will be included   and the author's email. All in Arial 11 font and centered.

  • Resumen: "RESUMEN" will be written in uppercase with bold letters, in Arial 12 font. The content will be written in uppercase and lowercase letters. All in Arial font 10. The maximum size for abstracts of original articles is 200 words.

  • Palabras clave: "Palabras clave" will be written in uppercase and lowercase letters. The content will be written in uppercase and lowercase letters. All in Arial 10 font. You can write up   6 keywords that are not in the title.

  • Abstract: For the summary in English, "ABSTRACT" will be written in capital letters with bold, in Arial 12 font. The content will be written in uppercase and lowercase letters, all in Arial 10 font.

  • Keywords: "Keywords " will be written in uppercase and lowercase letters. The content will be written in uppercase and lowercase letters. All in Arial 10 font. You can write up   6 Key words that are not in the title.

  • Note: In the case of an article in English, the Abstract will be presented first , then resumen.

  • Resumo: For the summary in Portuguese, "RESUMO" will be written in capital letters with bold, in Arial 12 font. The content will be written in uppercase and lowercase letters, all in Arial 10 font.

The main titles ("Introduction", "Methods", "Results", "Discussion and   Conclusions "," Acknowledgments ") will be written in bold, with uppercase and lowercase letters, in Arial font 12. If necessary, the Results and Discussion sections can be merged into a single section. Subtitles or titles of second order will be written in bold, with uppercase and lowercase letters in Arial font 11. If necessary include third-order titles, these should be written only with the first letter in uppercase, with italics, in Arial font 11. The text will be written in Arial 11 in regular print (not bold or italics).



  • Introduction: It is the initial section whose main purpose is to contextualize the research question. Here the most important antecedents for the later development of the central theme are explained. Normally it is written developing general aspects to then give way to particular aspects that are directly related to the research question, hypotheses and predictions. At the end of the Introduction the objectives of the research are presented and a brief review is made on the contribution of the article for the development of the discipline or area of ​​knowledge in which it is framed.

  • Methodology: Describes the work design, approach, techniques and instruments, population and sample, as well as the procedures used to obtain data. This must be designed to achieve the objectives proposed in the Introduction and must provide sufficient detail to make it possible to replicate the study without difficulties.

  • Results: They must be presented in a logical and objective way, showing the results obtained based on the methodology used in the work. For its more clear exposition, explanation or understanding tables and / or figures may be used.

  • Discussion: Corresponds to the interpretation that the author makes of the results obtained, analyzing their meaning within the framework of their hypotheses and predictions, and in the knowledge generated by previous research. The discussion follows the guidelines consistent with the methodology used and the results obtained.

  • Conclusions: In this section, concrete answers can be offered to the questions posed in the Introduction. It is optional and depends a lot on the characteristics of the article.

  • Acknowledgments: List the funding sources and the people and institutions that have contributed at some stage in the development of the work. In the case of projects financed by UTI, the title of the project and the call in which it was awarded should be mentioned.

  • REFERENCES: The title "References" will follow the same format as the titles of the first order. All references cited in the text of the article should be listed here, using IEEE or Vancouver citation standards . When quoting a reference in the text, enclose the quotation number in brackets, for example [1], [2] ... Where appropriate, include the name (s) of the referenced citations. References will be cited in the text using numbers corresponding to the order of appearance. Following are examples of reference to books, technical reports, conference proceedings, articles in journals, theses and Internet sites, using the IEEE standard.

Quotations in the text should be included as in the following example:


Mathematics arise from each child's thinking as it logically structures its reality [5].


  • Tables: Will be presented in the text of the article. They must be done in Word, in the same file where the article is written. INSERTED TABLES ARE NOT ACCEPTED AS IMAGES. When the text is cited in Table 1, "Table 1" will be discussed. The header of each table will be included above the table and outside of it.

  • Figures: Will be inserted in the text of the article. They can be inserted in the Word file for the review process and the legend can be inserted below each figure. When Figure 1 is cited in the text, the full word will be written in cases like this: "Figure 1 shows the trends in the noise increase in the City of Ambato". However, it will be written abbreviated when it is in parentheses, in cases like this: "In recent years there has been an increase in noise in Ambato (Fig. 1)". The legend of Figure 1 will be located below the figure.
    Once the article is approved, these images must be sent to the Graphic Editor in JPEG or EPS format, with at least 300 Dpi RESOLUTION, and with a size of at least 18.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
